Sudden death struck a numbing '.
blow to the Lucknow; 'area on Tues
day afternoon. of this. week when
52 -year-old Mrs.. Tom. MacKenzie
of Kinloss Township was instantly
killed. Mrs. MacKenzie, driving
alone in her car,'was •in collision
with the,Canadian National Rail-
ways freight train at •a •crossing just
a half •male from her home. The •
crossing is located on the first side-
road in Kinloss east of Lucknow and
running. between Highway.86'
and the 2nd concessio n of: Kinloss.
The road; is often referred • to as
"Torrance's: sideroae or
"lovers' lane" :„
Mrs. MacKenzie ,,:or Doris: as, she
was familiarly known to.most of

commercial. at Litcknow.. District
,High School. She •was a former
employee of the Bell Telephone, -
and -Bank ',of
elephoneand-Bank'of Montreal in Lucknow. ,
For some reason,, unknown ai time,
of writing, she was making .a trip
from the.:High Schoolto her
Kinloss home• at the noon hour
Tuesday. .:She -had been seen at the
post office in Lucknow just minutes
before .her fateful trip which:took,
her east on Highway 86 and north '
• on the sideroad towards"her home.

impact and was hurtled in a wester
ly direction into:a deep ditch. The
vehicle overturned: and cane to
rest again on its wheels,.': Parts of
the car were torn from the vehicle
including the motor • fender and

west of Teeswater. Mr. and Mrs.
Bregman lost their barn, the
season's crop of hay and grain,.

Mrs: Bregman, Agnes.to her many
friends, is well known in Lucknow
where she was formerly: employed
