St . Helens and Whitechurch Insti-
tute ladies were guests of the Luck-
now Women's Institute for their:
Centennial meeting which was held
inthe institute rooms. Mrs. Alex
MacNay;took the chair for the open
ing and business part of the meet-
ing. Mrs. Wes Ritchie and Mrs. •
Alex MacNay have charge of the
,program for the institute Christmas
party which is to be held in the
Anglican Parish. Hall on December ,
14th. The roll ball was answered
with "Bring an antique or. keepsake
and tell its story" which were
then d isplayed. on a : table centred,
with a Centennial. Cake.
Mrs.: Ja. MacMillan presided for.
the program and called on Mrs; R.
Martin to, give the morning" report
on the Rally, at Ripley•and Mfrs.
Frank Miller reported on the
afternoon session.
A solo i"Silver Threads, Among.
The Gold" by Mrs. De Boer of St.
Helens, accompanied. by, Mrs; Fred
McQuillin,: was enjoyed by the .
ladies. Mrs. ,Phillip Stewart gave a
very interesting history of the: Luck -
now Women's Institute from its
beginning in 1908 to the present ,
year. The first meeting was held at
the home'of Mrs. Thos. Reid,.
whose husband was bank manager,
atthat time; • the first president•'was
Mrs, Garnet Armstrong• and the first
;secretary, Miss Fern Reid:.
