On 'Thanksgiving Day, Mrs. Leroy
Rantoul had a very trying • '
experience in the late .afternoon
when she started. the 'fire in the
cook stove to burn out accumulated
• papers which started off quickly and
in a short binethe pipes•were red.
hot to the•chimney.., Leroy ,was with
the other man at Gary. Rantoul'. s
' 'farm filling silo where there was no
'phone. Mrs. Ernest Beecroft went to
inform Leroy. who alone left the
corn bee, ;but.' when'he saw: how
bad' the fire was; immediately
' summoned' the Wingham Fire Brig-
ade. However the .•pipe and'.
chimney, fire was brought under
control •without the use of water, ,
