Last Saturday was ,Ripley .Fan -
Fair day and what a day it turned
out to be. The weatherman started
the 'rain on Tuesday evening of
last week then tapered .off for Wed
nesday only to start' up again for..
Thursday and Friday.; Everyone
was hoping for' sunshine Saturday
to no avail. The result was a cold
wet disagreeable day with mud
everywhere. Shelter was provided
in the three buildings in use -
Knox shed , • Huron township'
hall and Ripley District High
School
The rain slackened atnoon and.
this allowed the parade, with Lester
Ferguson, Bill MacCreath, Francis
Boyleand Mrs. Morris Reid in
charge tocome down the main st
street to the park .'The directors,
including Gordon Roulston of Olivet'
who provided his truck, spread saw: -

aw=dust: over the infield of th e ball'
diamond. Leading the parade was
the Hanover District High' School
Girl's Band. They were able to give
one performanceat the park before
the weather forced them into their
bus for•the.protection of :their"instru-
ments. Following the band'were
the pupils of the Ripley Huron Cen-
tral and
en-tral•:and the. Pine' River public,
schools with some 'substitute teach-
ers`' for the day Mts. Wallace

regular teachers were .unable to be
