REAPER
BY REV DUNCAN• McTAVISH.
In our article on the Old Log
• House, we said that it was turned
into an implement shed when the
new frame dwelling was built.
And among the many things stored
there was, an old reaper. On, days
of inclement weather, the shed
made a wonderful playhouse for 'us
small youngsters,. The chief object
of our recreation was the old reap-'
er
The reaper had, beenreplaced as
a harvesting machine,' with the
coming of the binder, and so year
after year it sat there as something'''
no longer needed in a progressive
age. We never tired of sitting in
the • seat , pulling this lever and
that, pressing •our feetupon the
trip that operated the rakes and in
our • childish imagination seeing the
:.sheaves swept from the table by
the descending rake. There Were .
