Youth Of Today
(By Ja nice .Brooks 12-A)'
.Why is 'it that,today'•.s'.youth are
bending far away 'fr,om. the church?.,
'This is a sad problem,/but,rnany
.teenagers have lost interest in
church life: Aftier,approximately'
ten.years•of Sunday School, the
youth may break entirely ,with the
church. In, a survey taken in the
United. Church, it was found that •
"of all the -babies born in'•47 , '48'
and '49,, 100',000 have disappear- "
ed" from church,,
The church contains many
-hypocrites . whom teenagers
detest - that feel their religious.
life is fullfillediby "appearing" in
church every Sunday'.. "
Teenagerswant action !,'Youth
should be included in the church
session or executive -or at least
:allowed to 'expres4s their construe
tive ideas; to an.interested adult. • •.
In some churches, coffee houses
have been developed where stud:-
eats are .allowed to 'do this. Some-
times the minister's sermon ca5 be
too de eaving the listener corn,-
'pletely vt. There are more
reasons for tee, , ers' lack of inti;
crest.. Why do you think teenagers
:are Estraying, away from the .Church?
