PL Pr. esentSen'inel With,CitatioN Mrs. Jack McKim of Lucknow was host to a dinner meeting on Monday evening when the executive, and team• captains of the Lucknow Branch of the Canad- ian Cancer Society met to discuss plans for their Lucknow and 'dist- rict canvass which will be held the last week in April. • April is ,Cancer month throughout Canada and during this 'month' the local groups canvass for funds to keep up their valuable work which; continues on a•twelve month: basis;; Present at the dinner meeting was Norman Porter of Walkerton,. campaign chairman for the '.Walkerton unit which takes in`the ,whole, of Brt ce County and whose Objective is $12,500. Tears cap- tains present were Mrs,: Harry . Laois. representing the Kairshea • , Institute. Mrs., James Mathers representing the Foresters, Miss. Ruth,Thompson;• Mrs.:'JohnKreutz' weiser; Mrs; James Boyle,. M,r's J, L, MacMillan and Mrs.. McKim. Mrs': William Wharry and Mrs., .' Greer' were unable to attend,. Was Sucess The annual Lucknow• and District Lions Club •ice carnival is always a popular event with young and, old in the community.• Last Friday's carnival was held with balmy spring-like .temperatur es prevailing outside the arena. Despite the first "surrimer weather of the season, a good crowd was on hand. • • In the pre -:carnival hockey game. Lucknow Public School girls „defeat- ed Ripley by'a score of 3-1.
