Mrs. Jack McKim of Lucknow
was host to a dinner meeting on
Monday evening when the
executive, and team• captains of
the Lucknow Branch of the Canad-
ian Cancer Society met to discuss
plans for their Lucknow and 'dist-
rict canvass which will be held the
last week in April.
• April is ,Cancer month throughout
Canada and during this 'month' the
local groups canvass for funds to
keep up their valuable work which;
continues on a•twelve month: basis;;

was Norman Porter of Walkerton,.
campaign chairman for the
'.Walkerton unit which takes in`the
,whole, of Brt ce County and whose
Objective is $12,500. Tears cap-
tains present were Mrs,: Harry .

'rural areas.. Mrs.McKim said,

Lions ice Carnival. Was Sucess
The annual Lucknow• and District
Lions Club •ice carnival is always
a popular event with young and,
old in the community.•
Last Friday's carnival was held
with balmy spring-like .temperatur
es prevailing outside the arena.
Despite the first "surrimer weather
of the season, a good crowd was on
hand. • •
In the pre -:carnival hockey game.
Lucknow Public School girls „defeat-
ed Ripley by'a score of 3-1.
Following 'the, judging of costumes,;
a public school team from Ashfield
and West Wawanosh defeated a ,
combined Lucknow PeeWee-Bantam
hockey team by a' score \of• 5 -.2;.';
