Mr. Elwin Hall was born' in Ethel
Ontario.'He He attended S.S. # 6,
Grey Township School in Huron .•
,County..' For his. High. School educ-,
ation he,,,went to Ethel Continuation
School for Grades'9: and. 10 and
Brussels Continuation>School for
11, 12 and'•13'He took the, one year
course at Stratford .Normal School •
and graduated in 1943.
Mr. Hall taught public school.for
two years in Morris Township and
one year in 'Colbourne Township.
At Atwood > Public School he was
principal and held, the same office
for five years :at Ayr..
Through summer courses and ex-
tension courses`Mr. `.Hall' obtained
his: B.A.. He came to Lucknow six
years.. ago as an; English teacher'. At
the present time he teaches English

him to lead the• band and teach
students to play any instrument on
hand. He' takes great: pride in his;.
"Hi -Tones" whom he has trained.
IHe.has organized glee clubs in the

through. Mr..Hall,also isinterested'
in giving students the opportunity
fora public speaking.
He" thinks Lucknow is a typical,
inservatiVe town and feels•the
students' are typical of a rural area
He.says they appear.more realistic
than city students.
As for the large school vs the
smaller one be feels that, there are
many advantages both waysbut for
the best education scholastically,'
the larger school wins out.'
.If students need any guidance or
aid in plans of the future they seek
out, Mr. Hall. He is always ready
:to be of help. The Career Day
which is coming•up is one of Mr.
Hall's projects to give the students.

Reception held •in Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall on Sat:-.
urday night for Mr. and Mrs. Char
les Holmes (nee Phyllis Barbour) of
St. Helens.
• Music for dancing was supplied
by San -an -tons orchestra. of London
At the close of the dance a salad'
buffet supper was served to around:
60 guests. After the supper the
many gifts, mentioning a few of
the larger ones, blankets, bed-
spreads, -rugs, electric tea kettle
and a sum of money were present-
ed. Mrs. Allan Barbour assisted ~the
bride in opening the gifts.
Mr; and Ms. Holmes both thank-
ed their friends and relatives for
remembering them in this way.
Guests were present from St. Cath-
erines, Deleware, Waterloo, Lon-
don,' Lucan, •, Wingham., '.Bluevale
and Listowel.:
