Are Short Of,,
.Budget Objective •
It has nothing to do with plough •'
Jag. . but, a rather startling' statistic
came out of the International Plow
ing Matchheld near Seaforth in
October, . .
The,Perth and Huron County Tub-
, culosis Associations had a mobile
x-ray unit, there...and offered. a free,
chest' x.; ray to anyone who asked
for it. A total of '772 people took,
advantage of the free service.
This was the startling result:,
`When the 'medical: specialists had
completed their examination of
the xl-rays, they found that 45 'of,
the 772 had chest coditions that •
made further rrmedieal• examination
^advisable. The 45 persons were so
Informed.' Of the; 45`having abnor
mal chest conditions two were.
described as having "urgent need"
of medical attention. '
The .fact' that' 45: had chest conad
;itions that warranted further meds-
ical examinations does not mean'
that they were all .suffering.from
tuberculosis The report does paean
tba.t those 45 chests did not look.
like normal healthy ; ones.' These
45 people *might have tuber-
eulosis conditions or other lung;dis-
eases or they, night indeed have
no present illness • '
The Huron•CountyTuberculosis
:
Association carries on.'a continuous
effort to' find out who.these people,
are; in order'that they may
given help
The Huron Association ,is spending
at'the rate of. $13 ; 000per year.
• Right now only ;$11,5'93.30 has been
subscribed,. We believe the people
of Huron want. the Association to
press on with, its work,.of education.
and chest clinics.
The .hard fact is that the pace: of
the workcan be maintained only
if the public .gives 'the money..
