Dear Phonse and ' Gertie.,
The years `make many changes,
At your ages, you'll agree
Friends move on .`
landmarks 'change.,
It's called "prosperity"
Some call it just plain "progress"
You. call it what you may,
But. on this line old neighbours
Have just: this much to say •---
Thee written word, can't tell it well
There isno time for such
Our little gathering here to -night
Just. adds .a "friendly touch".; • .
For years you have been`part of us
Your family we know well,
Glad' we are' that you'll be, near
This,mere, words can't tell.
Our loss will be'anothers gain,
This fact' Is .all too true,
Because you're held in high esteem
Tonight . we honour you.
You both 'are so .well known
, 'Admired and loved by all,
.You-Gertie, in .your T. V. field,
And .Phonse, 'in your .'civic' ca11:
May retirement years be happy
ones ,
May all your dreams col ie true ,
Our lives have' been•made richer,
By knowing friends like. you.
And through the years new friends
• • . you'11. make,
Others will take our place;
B ' this old community
You'll find many a friendly 'face.
• To keep in''mind the old friends
And of "course the neighbours too,,
We ask ,you to accept. this gift
From all of lis - - to you.
Signed On behalf of your :fiends
' and neighbours.
