volunteered to serve cookies.and

Mrs. harry Lavis gave a report
on. the Bake Stale held August 6th'.
Raking was quickly .sold -• real-
* izing $64.00. Three dollar don-
ations were received from several
members whowere unable to
send baking,
Mrs: Roy Finlayson took the -
chair for the programme. After
community singing, Mrs. 'Rowe
(Muriel MacKenzie's mother) of
Exeter •was.•introduced by Mrs. I.
Dickie. Mrs, Rowe demonstrated.:
the making of beautiful smocked
gingham, cushions. Sample squares -
were passedout to members. Mrs.
Rowe was thanked and presented
with a gift.by.:,M.rs. Allister Hughes

utions to be voted on at the Area•.

Huron MP Robert McKinley of
Zurich ret urned this week from a
.10 ;006 mile trip through Canada's
north The Zurich man made the

Commons as members of the
standing committee on Northern
Affairs and•Na:tural Resources.
The group covered the distance
in an airplane 'and travelled from
coast to coast and were some 300
miles above,.tiie Arctic Cicle .at . .

"Canada' has .some tremendous
resources up there," he.stated,
following his trip through the
