Harness racing has advanced a
long way since it first started in
Kincardine ninety-seven years ago
When the first races were arranged
between the "young bloods" of the
district whose .reputation at that
!tine might be likened to today's
fast cars.,
However ,-,there was. a -difference
. • and, devoted horsemen took pride
the advancement of the breed
t1JiTRinate1y this called for per-
sonal sacrifice so it was not sur-
prising 'that racing as an organized
sport fill on evil days and it would
appear for.a time that harness
racing would disappear from the-
' Canadian sports picture. A few of
the oldsters still felt the terrific
• competitive spirit and enlisted
•younger groups "with the legs" to
help bring about a revival, since
many race meets fell to the re
