biggest group ever to confront
council.

CLOSE TO SCHOOLS
Ralph Tuinenia, spokesman for
the group backing the committee,
said its plan would place the
'Brant pupils' close to secondary
schools in Walkerton and. Chesley.
They could benefit from. home
economics., agriculture and shop -
work instruction. He also said the
boundaries .of the proposal follow
existing high •school boundaries.
Transportation problems imposed
by the Saugeen River, which runs
through the length'of the township,
would be minimized, Mr, Tuin=
etna said, and the children would
have shorter distances to travel,.
A new school at Elmwood to
handle all'Brant pupils except
those in, the southwest•ucorner„ who ,
could attend at. Walkerton, was
the recommendation of.the second
grip. Douglas parr' of Walkerton,
the spokexrnan, said the•heaviest
population concentration is around
Elmwood,f. He;.disagreed.:w.ith the :
suggestion that there is not 'adequ-
ate land 'at:Elmwood for an '•
