'Mayor of the 1966 Plowing Match

whose farm a' large part of the
match will be staged. . Warden of

greetings froth the County of Huron
and the township of McKillop;
Mayor J. F. Flannery of the Town
of Seaforth extended greetings -as
well..

duced his workers. His partner in
'the chairman's job, Gordon Mc-
Gavin of Walton, introduced Mem-
bers of the Ontario Plowmen's Ass
ociation who were present.
Those present heard remarks by
Norman Barber,president of the '.
Ontario Plowmen's Association,,'
and F. A. Lashley; secretary -man,
ager of this organization.
Speaking briefly were Robert"
McKinley; MP for Huron; Murray,
Gaunt, MPF for Huron -Bruce.

first furrow, the dedication was

for last Saturday's event. .
The walking plows used in '
Saturday's ceremony are approxi-
mately 100 years old "andare
typical of those in• use in the last
century in -Huron County..
One of the plows, owned by
James Doig, of Tuckersrnith,
was manufactured in 'Clinton,,
Ontario, by 'Miller and Tedford,
and was brought to Tuckersmith
when •the William Grummett fam-
ily moved there, nearly 100 years
ago.

by Gordon McGavin, Walton, was
owned by the ate'John . Aitcheson
and originally .was used to plow,
the.lands On which the Tented ..
City will belocated..
• The Bell Imperial gasoline
tractor used Saturday is owned by.
William McGregor, RR 3, Kippen.
It was manufactured in Seaforth
Ontario,` by the Robert Bell'` Engine
and Thresher Co. Ltd., and pur• ,
chased by Mr. :'McGregor in 1920.
The tractor, was in regular use
until 1948.
