Kincardine is, now officially in
th e feud over Paul` Henderson,
Detroit Red Wing hockey star,
who has been causing some sleep-
less nights among local hockey
.fans' who despair at the factfflthat
sportswriters have been calling .
-Paul a native of Kincardine, ,
Of course, anyone Who knows
anything, knows,that Paul is a
true-blueLucknow native and is.
proud, of it'.and freely admits' it.
Up Kincardine way, they've been
too busy worrying about boundary
roads; the smell from the sewer
lagoon, filling the pot holes on`
the road to the golf course, and
.cleaning up the station beach to
be worryingabout 'a minor thing
like the home town of an
hockey player:
• However, it' appears that there
are some needlers in the lakeside
town, and last. Saturday night
after the' fog had .creptin from
Lake Huron, they Made their way.
to Lucknow., with paint brush 'in
hand, and did some revision work
• on. the board fence on Lucknow's
.main street. .
They painted over the word'
Lucknow and inserted the word
'Kincardine as being•the hometown.

Donald Nicholson, .27 -year-old
Dungannon resident who was in-
jured .seriously, in a bush accident
near : Paisley on Tuesday 'of last
week, is in much improved 'con-
dition 'in Victoria Hospital in
London. He is stillin intensive
care but has shown considerable
improvement from "the very ser-
ious condition he was in follow-
ing the accideltt, . .
Donald 'was working with' his
father, Archie Nicholson, of
Lucknow, in taking out logs•
from thetbtash of Bill Johnston on
the townline of Elderslie and
Greenock, south of Paisley,
Wesont Lumber. of Lucknow had
contracted the bush and the
Nicholsons were working at the
log retnoval;:
Archie had skidded some logs
out of the bush about noon and'
wondered°why Donald had -not
followed him out to have their
dinner.. He returned to find
Donald' lying on the ground,
badly injured,. • ;
Archie sought help at the Johne.
stdn farm and't r. D. H. Milne of
•Paisley/was summoned along with'
anambulance from Walkerton..
The arbulance drove to the edge '
of the bush and the .injured man
was carried on the side of a rack
out to the ambulance. '
Donald was conscious all the.
Unit and in extreme'pairi. He wa
removed to Walkerton Hospital
for X-rays ys and about 5,30 p.m;
was taken on to Victoria .Hospital.
It is thought that in felling a
tree with a crotch in it, a section
caught on another tree, and whip-
• ped back striking Donald..
X-rays revealed. -Donald had
one fracture of the spine,; all his
'right ribs fractured, a••punctured
lung, which later collapsed en '
route to London Hospital. He had::
been on intravenous uhtil the ° .
weekend, and .had been 'in.a resp-
irator.
esp-irator..The first of this week, •
he was allowed to breath on his
own a 1/2 hour of every 2 hours
and the remainingtime he was
in the respirator. '"
A 'Donald is the father of three
boys, all'under the age of` five.
Mr and Mrs Nicholson formerly
resided in Lucknow but, have
been living, in Dungannon for a
tune.
Mrs. Mel (Eunice) Goyette of
Lucknow was the winner of a .Cdl=
`our TV set .at Jack. MacDonald's
Esso Service Station in Lucknow
last week. Mrs. Goyette held a
. lucky card in the "Tiger Tiger
'Tiger" ,game. Her card read with
3 •Tigersalike and won'.for'her rhe-
colour
hecolour TV. • . •.
Jack is shown congratulating her
on her win, which was the, first
major winner at the Lucknow Serv-
e ice Station. •For having a card„
with two tigers alike, the winner
receives a transistor radio; but to
date; no, one has been a radio win-
ner in Lucknow.
Up until the TV. winner, the
best the local station could produce
was 'key chain winners. Winners
of key chains have been Allan
Mowbray, Maaten•Construc.tion Co. •
James West, Ted Collyer and Mrs.
George Kennedy..
The way the game works is that
with every purchase of gas, the
customer is given a card which
contains illustrations of three tig-
ers. To be a ,TV winner, it is , •
necessary to have three tigers on
the card which look identical.
The lucky Goyette card had
been passed on to the Goyette
children at home, and it was the
kids who advised Mom that she
had won.a TV set.
