Note On Vacation
Bible School
(Contributed by the Lucknow
• Ministerial Association)
The question has been,askedd
Why are we'having a Vacation
Bible School? ' Sortie of,our church;
es have Sunday School during'the
whole year, and it would seem
that for them this is superfluous.'
Perhaps I may take a moment to
explain the purpose of the Vacat-
ion Bible School,.
The Vacation Bible School does
not iiisplace the Sunday School.. •
Almost any Sunday School is conn-
ected with the particular church,
and most often• for that particular
church group. Vacation Bible ,
School, however, although it
the task:`and the work of the chug'
eh, has the Purpose of reachin$•a-"
wholeycommunity, in order to
reach , teach and' win children
to live for God.
How is this done? It is done by;
teaching a specific, intensive .'
program which touches upon the
whole.Bible and seeks to bring
the Bible into focus for the'whole
of life, The theme. for the Begin-
ners ( 4 and 5 .yr) is "God's Help-
ers".
elp-ers", The Primaries (grades 1, 2
and 3.) will learn about "Mission-.
aries"•. , "Our Bible" is the theme
fors 5andfor
Juniors (glade ,4, ,66)
grades 7 ;8 and.9 thetheme is
'Paul
These -programs are very corn -
:pact and intensive. It has been
observed that attimes. more is •
taught and memorized in two
weeks;'of Vacation 'Bible School
than in 3 or 6 months of regular
Sundaychool .trai ning. This'is .,.
not meant to discredit our Sunday
Schools, it is simply put here to
show the difference in programs.
Another question/that has' been.
asked,.is:; Howfar are we„reaching'
out 'in `surrounding communities?
The names mentioned on our
last, meeting give `some indicatior°
Belfast, St; Helenst;•Dungannon,
Langside, Whitechurch,
rood. etc. That means, if inyou
live one of those communit;-
'ies grin one not 'mentioned, and
`can bring your. children to ;Luck-
now', please do so,.. •'.
Next Monday, Me.9,•.at 8.00 0
we have our next meeting ithe
Presbyterian Church. We need
:teachers, helpers;, and a pianist'.
We need you 1 Materials: and
other items will be available for
inspection. Will you be there ?

God has' always influenced the
people who worshipped him. Fur-
tiler evidence was presented show
ing how God, has great influence
in this 20th ce.ntery working
through God-fearing peoplerrwho-
