Mrs, David Milne,a i,ucknow
resident for many years, passed •
away in her sleep. at her home on
Wednesday, , April .6th, She had
been in her usual ,health upon re-
tiring the night before,
Mrs. Milne, who was inter
84th, year, wasthe former Janet
Catherine Purves, She was born
in Kinloss' Township on November
8th, 1882, a daughter of Robert
Purves and Janet Steele.
About 63' years ago she. married
David Milne of Lucknow, who •
passed away.a. number of years
ago. ' •
Surviving members, Of the'faro:-
ily are three sons, Clair of Luck-,', •'
now , David Jr. ,Of Callander,
Fred of -Kitchener, one daughter,
Mrs. N. E: (Bertha) Haldenby of
Culross Township; one. brother,
'Robert Purves of Maple Creek,.
rSaskatchewan.
. The funeralservice was held
from the MacKenzie Memorial,
Chapel, Lucknow,. on Saturday.
April 9th, with interment at
South Kinloss Cemetery.. Rev. •
Rod MacLeod had charge' of the
service and Mrs. Gordon Mont-
gomery was organist:

registered for, employment, acc -
ording to Stanley Whiston, Acting,
Manager of the Walkerton Nation".

present there are 174 unfilled Vac-
ancies at the Walkerton office;
of which 140 are foremen and 34
for females.
These vacancies include job's:

'and wood workers. Experience
on these jobs, is not .necessary as • .
employers will provide on the
job training. •
Numerous. employment opport-
. unities exist throughout. the Walk-
erton' office area for male and ••

clerks and. salesmen. Also requir
ed are hospital workers,: farm
hands, :pipefitters•, stationary eng=
ineers, auto mechanics and poul-

School, Mr. Hawkes served three
years in the British Army at the
end of World War Il and was en -
'"gaged in experimental work in the
automotive industry in London,
'Eng/and.
On: his arrival in Canada, he
took up drafting, surveying', and
subdiy4ion design' before entering
the field of Municipal Admin-
'° •stration. For the past severs years
',he served as Planning Administrat -
or for the Town of Midland and has
been fully responsible for all phas-
es of Planning,, as well as conduct
ing many of the surveys' which re
suited in an Official Plan for the
town. *He wasalso responsible for
Many subsequent studies, including
the preparation of a Comprehensiv
Zoning by-law and related. Plannin�
'Controls. •
In addition to his ,duties as Plan
ning Administrator, he served as
Zoning. Administrator :and Secret-
ary -Treasurer of the Planning
Board and Committee of Adjust-
ment.
Mr. Hawkeshas alsosupervised
the administration of welfare for
the Town of Midland during •th
pastseven' years and performed
various other responsible tasks in
the administration of town affairs. ,
He is already known to many
people in the Georgian Bay area
as a result of his.: addressing various
GBDA Zoning meetings on 'the, sub-
jects of Planning and. Municipal
Administration;
'He is an officer of Caledonian
Lodge A.F. and :A,M. •and aDir-
ector in the. Huronia Association
for the. Mentally Retarded.:
Mr: Hawkes •hobbies' include an
oceasional:.game of golf, which
he admits to playing very poorly.
