Richard Henders Barkwell passed
away on Friday March.25 in dict-
ori.a Hospital, London,, He. was in
his 8. th year. '1 :
He was born in Ashfield Town-
ship on October 5th, 1887, ,a son
:of James*S. Barkweil and Alice
Andrew. He farmed in Ashfield
until a few years ago when i11
health forced him to leave, 'and. •
he came to Pinecrest Manor in
Lucknow, • For a time he resided •
with Mr and Mrs. Archie Nichol-
son of Lucknow. . ' After stays: in
Wingh(arn and London i4ospitais,,
Mr, ,Barkwellatoak•up residence at
-'i•'iuronview, Clinton, 'about the
'first of February of this year.
Henders Backwell,, as:he was
familiarly, known, never married.
He is survived -by two sisters., '.
Mrs. Frank (Daisy) McCharles of

The Dungannon Agricultural
Society held their annualmeeting
on:, March 30 with a 'good attend-
ance, Stanley McGratten of Goad-
erich was chairman for the meet-
ing with the same slate of officers
acting for this year.
The executive for 1966' will be"
President, Chester Finnigan; ` 1st,
vice, Roderick McKenzie, 2nd
vice, Theodore Redmond; .Secret-
ary- Treasurer ,: T. M Durnin.
This is Mr:. Durnin's twenty, -fourth
year in this office. The society
hada successful year' witha sub-
stantial
ub:stantial balance on hand ,
It was decided to have bleach-
ers erected this' year with :Ross
Eedy' Melvin Dickson,. Stanley

41-1 clubs., and the beef, dairy
and grain clubs. During the past .•
year the club membership; was
forty-five. •

dent of this community , ,Mrs...
Eliza Petrie, passedaway. in Alex-
andra, Marine and General Hosp
ital, on'Mar-ch.29,' in her eighty-
eighth year. .
She had been hospitalized for
four weeks as the result of a fall
'.in her home and suffered a stroke
the day'before her death.
She was the daughter of the •
late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kilpatrick
and had •spent all her life in A°sh-
•field Township before retiring to
Goderich, twenty-six years ago'.
• She .was .predeceased by her hus-
band,
us-band, John W. Petrie, in 1947
and one' daughter; Mrs. ras.(Ber-
tha) McMillan in 1959. ,She was'
also predeceasedcby five brothers
` ails! three sisters, • • ,
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Case(Mary) Black of Kit-'
chener, and Mrs. Richard (Elsie)
• McIntyre:of Goderich, and four
• sons; William and Charles of Ash-
' field Township, Roy 'of Port Al
bert•, and Joseph of Vienna, also.

interment in Dungannon Cemetery.
The pallbearers were six grand-
sons, rack Petrie, Vienna; Dr.
Donald Petrie, Stouffville; Nor-
man Petrie, Toronto; Kenneth
Petrie, Kincardine; Elwin Petrie,
Port Albert;, and Allan. Petrie,
Dungannon.
