Board members wished to make it
known that. they have appreciated
the co-operation,•shown by the
elementary school boards and the
municipal councils involved in the
decision.. 'One school board ntem-
bet summed it up. "It .was the
toughest decision that I ever had
to make".
The Wingham District High
School Board had previously voted
to accept Lucknow into an amal-
gamation plan when Lucknow app-
roached them several weeks ago.
It ciould therefore. be the under-
standing that this amalgamation
-
would proceed with no problems.
Representatives from the Luck -
now and Wingham boards will havi
to approach both ,Bruce and Huron
county, councils at their lune sess-
ion when the consultative comm-
ittee will make a recommenda-
tion to the county council on the
matter. , •
If it is approved, the present
WinghamDistrict•High School
area would be dissolved and a
new ,.area formed which would ,ern:-
• brate those municipalities now
in the Lucknow District High
School Area; .as welt as those in.
the present Wifigharri Area. This
- of 1967 when the Luckpow board
would cease to It would` be
assumed that the LuCknow,High
School wouldcontinue to, operate.'
under the new board; in the Luck-
• now school building until June of .
.• 1987; In the Fall of 1967. all
pupils would be transported to
the Wingham District High School
The terms of the'amalgama-
don, among other things. will '
call for the Lucknow District High
School to be made available for
elementary.schools in the
district now served by the Luck -
now High School Area. Lucknow
and KinlossTOwnship element-
ary school boards have already .4
indicated theirintention of.form-'
. .
ins a combined school area with'
the Lucknow District High School •

building to be used as a senior
elementary school. '
•
. It has also been decided that
grade 13 from the •Lucknow Dist- .
rict High School will attend
Wingham District High School •
• in the Palfof this year, one year •
.ahead of the rest of the school.., •
This was being seriously consid-
ered whether Lucknow decided
to amalgamate or not because
.of the.teaching problems and •
staff problems which have arisen.

The saying .goes Never
count your, chickens ..... • s
It seems, that the Harriston• Ban-
tam hockey officials were count-
itig.chickens;• eggs and all and
got away ahead of themselves
last week.' . " • •
Rumour has it from a 'good .
source that the Harriston manage-
ment, upon defeating Lucknow in
the first game of a best of hree
playoff series by a score of '7-1,
decided that it would be a "walk-•
away" over the Lucknow gang.
They 'proceeded ,to make arr-
angements to play rhe nett round •
'against the Lions Head team but
the arrangements were suddenly
halted when Lucknow won the
second game of the series in over-
time, and 'the arrangements were
"shattered" when Lucknow won
the third and final game elini-
inate,Harriston.
It seems we caw makelools of
ourselves in many ways which was
clearly indicated in this instance.
