An old landmark of Kinlough wa
taken down by Gerald Valad and •
hiswilling, helpers last week.. It
was the barn onthe property of Mr.
and•Mrs. J. Charpentier who reside
in the dwelling at the former Mo'
Lean store. Coming .to the village
at an'early age, we can well rem
ember: when this, barn housed they
orses of the storekeepers who
made regular trips, to. the Lucknow
station or Express office in winter
and summer for all of the -'store
supplies;
We especially remember the
ate W, J, McLean and his faith-
ful horss,
aithfulhors,,, Dan; A light wagon or
sleigh was used to carry these
supplies.
On the west side of the main.
barnwas a shed -which covered the
Weigh scales for several. years,
later being used for a garage.
Farmers broughttheir livestock.
and grain to.be weighed ,and in.the
early winter on .a.`day each week •
the. village v"ras a hive of activity
when a buyer from Lucknow took
in fowl. ' •
Geese; ducks. turkeys and chick
ens were bought either dressed or
live: In addition to this was the
chopping mill. 'Farmers .'congreg-
ated in the store and bought their.
upplies
