Bert.Alton were delegateetg the
district meeting of Fall Fairs and
Mrs.' McCharles• reported. , • At this
meeting Mrs; McCharles was elec-
ted an assistant lady director of
District No....10 ... which includes
Grey 'and. Bruce Counties,. to the
Ladies' Division of the Ontario
Fair Board: Mrs .McCharlfes.assunT
ed -this office last November.
Fred : McQuillin congratulated
Mrs McCharles on -the election to
this office saying it was an honour
to have a member of the Lucknow
Society, assume. such •a; post.. The •
only other Lucknow.member to
serve on .the Ontario Board. was
Stuart Robertson.. " .
Reports were heard from all div-_
isions of the Fair. `Gordon
land felt the heavy horse, show was.
one of the weakest parts of the fair
because of lack of entries.' Good •
;prizes• are offset ,by other Fairs on
the same day which draw': the ex-
hibitors. Gordon felt the pony
and saddle horse show was quite
good
The cattle, slieep,swine and
poultry classes didn't draw Much`.
commentfrom. the'mee:ting. Grain
and ,Roots produced very'few exhib-
.itors .but a good show, as did the •
• fruit division. Flowers and baking
created their usual wide interest
and drew lots of. entries: ' The lad-
ies department arid the finearts
classes also drew well,
The 4-H project display was :re-
garded at. quite good with .an Over
flow 'number of entries, in the pub-
lic "school competition:
' `Particular mention' was Made. of
the excellent parade and a vote
of thanks was tendered. Charles t.
Webster for his effort in this regard.
'Special ,mention was also made of
the work of Lloyd Ackert in the
program department and Mr. and
'Mrs. .Oliver McCharles. • °
