1912 Coincidence
The write-up: 'in The Sentinel
' last week about Phonse Murray of.
Kinloss Township winning the Bruce
County Wardenshipbrought an in-
teresting "coincidence to the mind
of&eve Stothers of Lucknow
• Steve ,advises us that; when. Dan
MacDonald was Reeve' of Kinloss
and Warden of Bruce County in •
1912, his neighbour and adjoining
township to.the south also had the ,
wardenship'. In the sameY.. ear,
Thomas Stothers of Ashfield • was
Reeve of the Township and Warden
of Huron County. •
• Steve recalls another wardenship
for Ashfieldin"1950' when Cecil
Johnston won the honours. He.
also brought to.our attention the •
fact that the first Huron warden to
come from Ashfield was "big Joe
Griffin" .who wa:s, Reeve and"Ward-
en in '1893. •.• He was later the
county.gaoler.
