unlocks the `door to complete
fulfillment of all'. your wishes. We
want to say thanks to our faithful customers.
The Sentinel had the privilege
of hearing the Wingham Harmony
° Men at thei;' annual banquet and
election of officers held at tithe.
Wingham• Legion. Hall, on Decem
ber 28th.,;
AS guests of Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man. Taylor; we were treated to•a
delicious• banquet and some fine
singing which; followed.
Other press and: civic represent
atives.:from area communities
were also present..
The. Wingham. Harmony Men •
are 'a chapter of the Society; for
the :preservation and 'encourage •.
• Ment of Barber .Shop,'QUartette k
singing' in America, 'incorporated.,
-The name).is a,bit misleading to
the average' listener . `.One might '
expect to find 'quartettesinging
exclusively in a 'group;with such
a name. ..Quartettesurging does
play a' small partin the Wingham'
group, but most of their work is
done as a group comprising some
. thirty strong, and .provide fine
close,harmony..
It was our firsts opportunity. to
hear these men•and we were. quite'
impressed. What impressed us'.
besides their music; was `the fact
,:that these men thoroughly enjoy
this working together • as a group,
and they bring much enjoyment
to those who have the _opportunity
• :to hear them. . Their association,
in the mpney that they raise and
in the dues that are paid for mem-`
berslip, assist with the work•;of'
Logopedics. Children with speech •
difficulties are assisted and sent
• to a,school at Wichita, "Kansas. •
This would seem a'•very approp '
riate work by men who use their
voices so well:
Speaking briefly at the banquet •
were Murray Gaunt, member .of
• the'provincial parliament for
Huron -•Bruce; DeWitt Miller, • may-
• or of Winghanr. •
'•
Russell Zurbrigg of Wingham,
president of the chapter,, was
• chairman for an informal program:
He outlined, the work of the group
during the past year and mention-
ed engagements at tile springcon-
vention in Stratford, the Howick
show, the Kincardine show, the
Winghall .Fall show; three church
services' at Teeswater, •Wingham
and Auburn.
