TORONTO DAIRY PRODUCE
BUTTER.—Choice is scarce and firm.
Good rolls sold at 16 to 18c, and good
tub at 17 to 190. Fancy rolls were very
scarce and sold easily at 19c. Best tubs
sold at 21c. • There was a fair demand
for medium for bakers' use at 14 to 15c.
For butter between these grades and
fine the demand is very slow.
MONTREAL LIVE STOCK
MARKET
There were about 600 head of butchers
cattle and 400 sheep and lambs offered
at the East Ehd Abattoir. There were
no prime beeves among the whole lot,as
Christmas market is drawing near and
the owners of good cattle are keeping
them for that occasion. There was a
fair demand for pretty good stock and
prices are rather better than they have
been lately. Pretty good cattle sold at
from 3ic to 3fe per lb. ; common dry
cows and thrifty young stock at from
2c to .3c do., with lean beasts down to
about 1.ic per lb. live weight. There
was a better demand for first-class
mutton critters, sheep selling at from
3o to 4o per lb., and lambs at from 4c
to nearly 5c do. Fat hogs are in larger
supply than is required at this season
of the year and prices are lower,or from
5gc to 5Ic per lb.
