demand light. Prices are easy. There
is a demand for tops, but there'are not
many of them coming forward. Fancy
sold at 20o, but the general run of choice
tubs and daily sold at 18c. A round
lot of old dairy and good store sold at
15o and a lot of 3,000 pounds good med-
ium rolls at 1Gc, Demand for medium
tubs and rolls was light and rule about
15 to 1Gc. Creamery neglected.

MONTREAL LIVE STOCK
MARKET
011 is vorable reports of the markets
from the Pther side last week good' ex-
port cattle a; a in demand, and dealings
were large at good prices. About 600
head of butchers' ca ttle and 550 sheep
and lambs offered at t22e East End on
Saturday. The liberal sapi lies, togeth.
er with the disagreeable weati;.er, made
trade dull and prices lower than last
week, but considerably higher than the
week previous. • Best beeves from 4o to
4ac and pretty good steers and fat cowe
Bic. Good demand for mutton at from
Sic to 5c, the latter only far superior
lambs. Market for fat hogs dull from
5io to Gc.
Receipts of horses at the Montreal
Horse Exchange, Point. St. Charles, for
the week ending Nov. 17, 1888, 63 hors-
es ; left over from previous week, 32;
total for week, 95 ; shipped during week,
19 ; sales for week, 7. Trade continues
dull. All kinsd of horses are plentiful
and cheap, but there is no demand.
Dealers who bought horses duringthe
past two months for sale on this mark-
et have lost heavily. The dulness is not
a cause of surprise, with the disagree-
able weather and abominable roads.
TORONTO LIVE STOCK.
Trade this week has been generally
steady in all grades and classes of stock.
There is still a scarcity of° choice cat-
tle, calves and hogs. Receipts for the
two days have been 29 loads. Last
week's receipts were 1,430 cattle, 954
sheep and lambs and 939 hogs. There
has been no export demand this week
for either cattle or sheep.
There was a good demandfor the bet-
ter grades of butchers' cattle, and prices
were firmer on all grades. . The quality
was mostly common to medium, and
sales, were made at equal to 2 to 3c
per lb. Best sold about 3,i to 3 c,
Nearly all the offerings were taken by
the local trade.
