TORONTO DAIRY PRODUCE.
BUTTER—Receipts were light, but the
mails brought in a good many offers to
sell from country holders of lots. They
were mostly of good medium grades,
and buyers will not touch these at pres-
ent prices. There was a good enquiry
for choice quality, and firm prices pre-
vailed. All good table grades offered
found a ready sale at 18 to 19c. and
something fancy brought 20g. There
was an enquiry for a round lot of low
grade for shipnlent, put no business re-
sulted. A lot of 100 ,tube creamery
changed hands at 204c`liere for July
and August make in gobd condition.
MONTREAL LIVE STOCK
There were about 400 hatchets' cattle,
500 sheep and.lgm'bs, and a dozen Calves
offered at the East End Abattoir and
trade was fairly active, with a slight
improvement in prices. None of the
cattle sales here exceeded 4c per lb. but
a few choice animals wore sold at Point
St. Charles for a little more. Pretty
good beeves sold at from 31 to 3ic per
lb., common stock from 23c to 3c do.,
with leanish animals and hard•looking
small bulls with long horns, from tic
to 21c per lb. A few days ago Mr Bur-
rows a drover from Ottawa, bought a
carload of common cattle on this mar-
ket from a Perth drover at $18 each
and shipped them back to Ottawa for
sale there. He was back again with
another carload of Ottawa cattle for
sale here. Probably some of the Perth
cattle were among them. There was
an improved demand formutton crit-
ters and higher prices were paid for
them. Sheep sold at from $3 to $6 each,
and lambs at from $2.25 to$4,50 each.
Jacob $ieler bought ten choice lambs
at $4 each and offered $9 for two more,
but the owner wanted $10 for them.
The market is still glutted with fat
hogs and prices are rather demoralized.
Some sales were made as lots as 5,1c per
ib., but the general price is about 6c.
