NEWEST STYLES IN •
TORONTO LIVE STOOK MARKET.
Receipts so far this week have been
ligbt, and the market is steadier than at
the close of the week. Tuesday offer•
ings were only seventeen loads. Cattle
—Choice butchers' cattle were in good
demand. Offerings were light,and prices
were firm at $4.75 to $5 for good to choice
stall•fed beefere and steers. There
was; however, an abundant supply of
common to good grassers, which ruled
a little slow at $3.50 to $4.25 per
cwt. The prospect for choice stall -
fed stock for the remainder of the
week is favorable. There were no ex-
port cattle offered, and prices are nom-
inally unchanged at t5 to $5.25 per cwt.
Tho cables reporting sales of Canadian
stock show that they did rather better
than a week ago. There was a fair
trade in milch cows. Fresh stock sold
readily at $35 to $45 for good qualities.
Sheep—Not many in and not umny,
wanted, One buyer picked up a few
for export at 31c per lb for ewes and
wethers and 3e for bucks or $5 to $5.50
per head. Butchers' sheep sold at $3.75
to $4.50 per head, but there was not
much demand. Lambs—Opened steady
with a good demand. Later it was dis•
covered, that offerings were laredge little„tthan
expected and trade.. dragged
Prices range from $3.60 .to $4.2.5 lie r
head as to quality. A bunch of 77,
averaging 62 lbs, sold at $:3.87i per head
About 90 wore unsold,
STRIPED CHAMBIIAYS IN PINK,' BLUE
AND GREY, EMBROIDERIES TO MATCH.
DOUBLE FOLD GOODS, FULL RANGES OF

MONTItEALLIVE STOCK MARKET
There were about 325 head of butdhers'
cattle, 180 calves and 380 sheep and
lambs offered at the East End Abattoir
None of the cattle offered were very
choice, and the highest price did not ex-
ceed 03 per lb., and very few brought
over 4.1c per lb., and the butchers con•
sidered then very dear at these prices,
as thoy.have all been fed more or less
on grass of late. Pretty good stock sold
at about 4c per Ib., with thriving steers
and fattish dry cows, at about 31e do„
while the hard•looking bulls, .of which
there were a considerable number offer•
ed, sold at from 30 to 31.c per Ib. Thin
stock sold at from 2.1c per lb., Goocl
calves were scarce and brought higher •
prices, and even ordinary veals brought
better prices, than they have for
some time past. Sheep and lambs
were rather scarce and brought better
prices all round,or from $3.50 to $6 each
for the sheep, and from $2.50 to $2.25
lambs, Fat hogs are plentiful andlow-
er in price, selling from 61c to 62c per
lb. for fat hogs, but .those just from off
the cars would bring more. The horse
market has been quiet of late, although
American buyers are still taking what-
ever snits them, but most of their late
purchases have been at lower rates than
usual. The number of horses shipped
from here to the U sited States Last week
was 69 horses! costing $6,222,50, or a
little over $100 each. The highest pric•
ed lot were 6 horses which cost $810,and
the lowest priced lot were 8 horses
which cost $552 or an average of $69
each: -
