to jail for ten days without the op-

Mrs Robert Thomas, for eighteen
years a resident of Syracuse, rpm•

House. She was deserted by her
husband.
Theodore Sheehan, formerly of
Dunnville, Ont., but recently resid-
ing in Buffalo, drowned himself on
Thursday in Niagara River near
Port Erie.

At St. Mounts un Tout sday
morning, as Contractor Ponsford,
was walking across the Michigan
Central la' ere iron bridge, just west
of the city, he discovered the dead
body of a man lying on the side of
the line. The head was completely
severed from the body and was
found under the bridge, a distance
of thirty feet below.. The victim
is a man about 5 feet 1G inches in
haight, smooth face apparently 30
years of age,well dressed, wore soft
felt bat, high top boots, such Lsworn by.'Michigan lumbermen.
There are no bruises on the body,
the wheels having passed squarely
over the neck. The unfortunate
man was seen wandering around
the city,appearing very melancholy,
and many who have viewed the
body believe that the unhappy
man, being tired. of life, determined
to kill himself, and deliberately
placed his neck across the rail and
was run , over by a passing . train,
while others think that while steal-
ing a ride on a freight tram he had
slipped and fallen under the wheels.
