Dr Hutchinson intends rewov-
frow Brussels to practice his profes-
sion in Montreal, after a residence
here of five or six years.
Mr Wm Ritchie, of McGlillvray,
bas purchased fol. $200 from Mr J.
Walker, of Brucefield, a fine Clydes-
dale filly, coming 8 years old.
Messrs Beau and Jewel, of Gode-
rich township, have sold their bull
calf 10 months old,ta MrWm.Jewel,
on the 6th concession,for the sum of
$95.
Mr Andrew Kirk has bought a
farm of 100 acres from Mr William
Bailie near the Nile, for the sum of
$2700, and is going to build a new
house thereon.
Mr James Wilson, who arrived
from Edinburgh, Scotland, last
summer, has recently purchased the
farm of Mr Ed. Daer, north half of
lot 4, con. 2, Morris.
Robt. Barr, jr., has leased his 100
acre farm on the 9th con. of Grey,
to J. Maker for a term of five years.
Mr Barr will devote his whole time
to the cheese factory.
East Wawanosh Branch Agricult
ural Society will'hold their Spring
Show for the exhibition of entire
horses and bulls at Belgrave on Wed-
nesday, April llth.
Mr John McConnell, an old God-
erich"boy," for many years a leading
carriage manufacturer of Guelph, is
going to Australia in a month, and
will commence business there.
A little child of Mr Thos Gilmour
Turnberry, fell into a kettle of boil-
ing water on Friday last, scalding
its In so'abadly that medical aid had
to he procured. The child is likely
to recover.
John Forbes has leased Wm. Kil-
lough's farm, Grey, just opposite hia
own, fol' a term of years. Mr Kil-
lougk moves:on to the Heritage farm,
on the next concession north.
The residence of James Elliott,
in the 3rd con. of Gray, was destroy-
ed by fire on Tuesday of last week,
supposed to have caught from the
chimney. The building was frame
and was not very valuable.
The Spring Chancery Sittings for
this county will be opened on Wed-
nesday, March 28, by Mr Justice
Robertson ; and the Queen's Bench
and Commom Pleas Court on Mon-
day, April 30, by Mr Justice Mc-
Mahon.
Word has been received at Exeter
of the death at Kent Bridge of Rev
A M Facey,•at the advanced age of
96 years. Deceased was well known
in that locality, having at one time
been pastor of the Elimville and
Stephen Baptist churches.
About half -past five Thursday
evening the lumber in the dry kiln
in connection with Mr Broadfoot's
new factory, Seaforth, was discov-
ered to be on fire and immense vol-
umes of dense smoke burst from the
building, The firemen were prompt-
ly on the sport and soon had two
streams of water pouring into the
building. In this way the file was
soon extinguished.
Last week Wesley Pollard, son of
Wm Pollard, Con. 6 Grey, whilst
engaged in taking out timber near
Henfryn, with two others, nearly
lost his life by a falling tree, which
two friends were chopping down.
They gave him' the alarm to run out
of_the way, and in attempting to do
so, be slipped and fell, the tree fall-
ing on him, breaking his collarbone
and otherwise internally injuring
him.
Wan Richmond fell a distance
of 20 fee' twhile putting up a hay
fork in Mr Thos. Carbent's barn
in Hullett, on Tuesday afternoon;
sustaining serious' injures. The
doctors summoned found no broken
bones, and Mr Richmond, being
unable to- speak, on being asked
where he felt utast pain, pointed to
his shoulders, and upper part of the
body. He is considerably swollen
around the shoulder, and it will be
some time before he will be able to
get around.
The English Church at Wingham
was last Thursday morning the secne
of a social event that created no
little interest in that town, and at-
tracted a large gathering of friends.
The affair in question was the mar-
riage of Mr Fred H Heath,the well-
known and popular General Secre-
tary of the Young Men's Christian
Association in London and Miss
Guasie Duffield, eldest daughter of
Mr James Duf;ield,formerly of Lon-
don.
Tho Expositor mentions the fol-
lowing horse sales: -Mr Alex. For-
sythe, of Tuekersmith, has sold his
Ranter Jack to Mr George Fowler,
of Dakota, for $1,000, and Mr Fow-
ler has also purchased a four-year-old
Canadian -bred from MrC. E. Mason,
and another from Mr Carlon, of the
Huron road, McKillop, and one the
same age from Mr Dale, of Hullett.
Mr Robert McGowan, Tuckersmith,
has sold to Mr John McKay, of the
same township, his fine young im-
ported breeding mare for $800. Mr
Thos. McLaughlin, of Grey, has sold
to Mr Fowler his two-year-old im-
ported'stallion,Xing of The Isles, for
$1,000.
