barn. He was a Gorman widower,
agod about 86 years, and had re-
sided in Se1>ringville for some 35
years, He lived alone and it is
supposed that. during the heavy
wind storm of Sunday night he
arose from leis bed and went out to
the barn, to shut the doors, when
being old and feeble ho was either
knocked down by the barn door or
full and was unable to arise, and no-
body being near, he perished from
cold and exposure. The old man
was well known in Stratford.

For a couple of weeks past Mrs.
Wilson, wife of Ur. W. G. Wilson,
commercial traveller, has been feel-
ing unwell, and hear physicians
could not determine exactly what
was the matter. Her two children
and the domestic also complained
of a similar illness—a deathly sick--
ne:ss combined witli the stiffening
of the. sinews and cords: Mr. \Vil-
son ras hotlle, for Sunday, and• in
the morning the oyster, eaten for
breakfast- were liberally supplied
from the contents of the. pepper
box, but without imparting to them
sufficient seasoning. Mr. and Mrs..
'Wilson started for church, but were
taken very ill on the road and step-
ped into the surgery of Dr. Mc-
Larty. It was suspected that they
had been poisoned by, something
they had eaten, and for a time cold
ham, partaken of by •the family,
was blamed for the state of affairs,
but on questioning the domestic
closely where she got the salt, pep-'
per anti other supplies, it wits •Clis-
covorod that,she had ,been for two
weeks past. filling the peppor•box
with white hollohoro, which sho
had mistaken for white pepper.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, the children
and the girl had a narrow escape.
