The prisoner gained an • entrance 41/to the girl's room through a window that faced the roof if the hack kitchen. -The charge was preferred •hy the girl's tuo:ther, • and at the police court Tuesday morning this case was the first called for hearing. Her evi- dence went to show that Hogg had accoucpliehed bis purpose twice against her will, and that she did not raise any outcry. The farmers are parting with their V. heat more freely than usual, notwith- standing the low price. •T•he spring wheat thrashings are proving unsat- isfactory, both in quality, and touch below the 'estimates. There is no late corn to be damaged by frosts. It is now thought that the late rains have not benefited the corn crop as itine1 as was anticipated.. Missouri has 41 good Crop. and Kan- sas show up poor indeed, and Ohio and Iurliana are low in the scale. Iowa and Nebraska have fair crops. '['here will certainly be no excess. Hogs are unusually healthy,' and promise the, best returns to farmers. Cattle are being rushed to market in large quantities, but fears of a cattle famine are gonmlless.
