A very distressing accident occurr- ed in Grimsby township, sixteen or eighteen miles ;from Hamilton on Saturday, by which Mr Alfred Biggar, son of Mr Jacob Biggar, of that town- • ship, lost his life, The nnfortuuate man left his home in the mornirg for the purpose of spending the day in hunting. Later in the day his bro- ther, when crossing the fields to go home found his dead body by a fence at the border of the woods. His gun was by his sid'e,discharged, and a pool of blood surrounded him. A glance - showed that the discharge from tbe gun had entered his temple, blowing his brains out. It is supposed that as the man was climbing over the gun caught or fell, or that Biggar fell, .and the result was death. He was 35 years of age, the eldest living 'son of Mr Biggs•, and Ras unmarried.. Further particulars have'been re- ceived regarding the speech made by Mr Blake in Ireland, on Wednesday. On that day he, with several members of Parliament, visited the Delmage estate at Glen Sharold, which- has the same notority as Glenbeigh and Bo - dyke. Several tenants were visited, and afterwards an assemblage of ten- ants and friends were addressed by Mr Blake, who was most ethusiastic- • ally received. He said" that not as a Canadian so much as a brother Irish- man he had determined to see for himself their condition so as to be able to tell the people of his own hap- py land what he•hnd seen. He had found distress in the southwest part of Ireland far worse than he had con- yectured. The state of things was such as would call down God's curse and ought to call down man's. He had nothing to say in reference to their particular form of operations, but there was no way by which they could succeed except by standing to- gether. 'P HE FAR -',.'S FRIEND. Vci c• THE PROPRIETOR CLAIMS FOR THIS FENCE L—That it is the most serviceable and durable rail twice in use. 2.—It is the cheapest and most substantial fence made. 3.—It is easily oenstraeted, and can be made out of old rails. 4.—It will not be displaced by the frost, nor by any ani• mal running agaii st it. 5.—It can be easily and quickly repaired. If rails should break from any pause they can be replaced with little trouble, as they do not rest on one another,. and are not tangled up with the wire. The stakes can also be re- placed if neeessary, without weakening the fence. 6.—itis the best moveable fence in use. We are confident that our fence will meet the requirements of the farmers who have fencing to do, and we can show many testimonials from good farmers to that effect. Agents wanted.
