The Clerk was instructed to notify the Sterling Bank not to collect any taxes after Dec. 15th. Sas. Campbell was paid gravel account of $5,36, due since 1005, on motion ot' Medd and Murray. All accounts against the township must be presented to the Board by Dec. 15, as they will not be honored after thet date. All taxes not paid by Dec 15 will have 5% added after that date. Ashfield township easily won' its case vs, Archie Johnston. Johnston took the contract' of gravellsng 100 yards, but failed te do the work in the time fixed. Ile was then notified that if he did, notdo it by acertain extended time, the contract would be re -let, and he would be held liable for any extra cost. Johnston took the contract at 47c a, yard, the next lowest tender being for 50c.. At the re -letting the lowest tender was for 69c, and John- ston was sued for the difference, $:n His defence- was that he *did not con- sider the contract binding. and that in the past other contractors had been let off, but this was ruled outby the Judge as having no bearing on the case at ad.
