TORONTO MARKETS
(From the Stin)
1100.8.-A further decline has taken
plebe in hogs during the past week,
this decline amounting to 40c. In the
United States, on the other hand, it
will be noted that prices are higher
than last week. The lower prices here
are accompanied by heavier receipts,
the shipments of the Davies Company
alone being over.8,000 hop last week,
or over 1,000 more than for the same
week last year. The Davies Company
prices are $5,15 on ward cars at local
Ontario points, lie fed and watered in
Toronto, and $6 25 off cars in Toronto.
CATTLE -This is a sort of off season
in the cattle trade. The quality of the
iliferings is, on the.mhole, rather poor,
owingin part to the shortage of pas-
turesin the fall and in a greater
measure to the desire of farmers to get
rid of their poorer stuff before winter.
feeding begins. The best of ;.he offer -
hogs in Toronto to -day were taken up
fairly freely, but the poorer stuff was
dragging. The best exporters on
offer sold at $4.50 to $4 75, medium $4
to $4,25 and export cows and bulls
$3,50 to $4.75 to 04, a remarkably low
price considering the prospects as to
what prices will be when. these are
finished for market.
SLIEEP.—The best Iambs on offer in
Toronto to -day sold at $0 25, as coni -
pared with $8.25 for the top price in
Buffalo yesterday. It is.probalaly true
that the quality of offerings in Buffalo

HonsEs-There was a rattling gogd
sale at the Repository. A lot of big
buyers were in from the lumber com-
panies, and they paid goed prices for
the right stuff. Good husky workers,
i with the weight and quality, sold
quite freely at $187 to $193. All told
some 200 disposed•of. Saddle horses form one

of the right stamp, are going from $135
