The Indemnity • The House of Comnaons on Thursday • morning voted down by the over- wbelming majority of 167 to 9, Mr, W. 10' Maelean'e bill to repeal the Indem, nay and Pension Acts of fast session. Of the eight members who.stnad by Me. Maclean, one, Gilbert IVIcIntyre, ie •11, Liberia ; the others are Conserva- tives. The debate was bitter through - •out. The Premier and Mr. Borden confined themselves to very mild re- bukes of Mr. Maclean's attacks, but several Conservatives, notably Mr. Armstrong, Ur. Lancaster and Mr. In- gram, :revenged themselves for the many annoyances which the party. has suffered front the member for South 'York by attaeks which, in Mr. In - gram's ease, may be styled vitriolic. The fierceness of the attack upon the mover of the resolution was the feat- ure. He was drawnand quartered, keel -hauled, and generally rough, handled by a half.: a dozen speakers, while the other members Sat back and shouted, "Give it to- hini 1" it to him hard 1" eGlide it to him some niore 1" and other phrases of enemies agement. It was a •reina, riciple exhiln Won, and indicated a. degree of ribpop• eaarity unique in modern Parliament- ary history.
