The Indemnity •
The House of Comnaons on Thursday
• morning voted down by the over-
wbelming majority of 167 to 9, Mr, W.
10' Maelean'e bill to repeal the Indem,
nay and Pension Acts of fast session.
Of the eight members who.stnad by
Me. Maclean, one, Gilbert IVIcIntyre, ie

tives. The debate was bitter through -
•out. The Premier and Mr. Borden
confined themselves to very mild re-
bukes of Mr. Maclean's attacks, but
several Conservatives, notably Mr.
Armstrong, Ur. Lancaster and Mr. In-
gram, :revenged themselves for the
many annoyances which the party. has
suffered front the member for South
'York by attaeks which, in Mr. In -
gram's ease, may be styled vitriolic.
The fierceness of the attack upon the
mover of the resolution was the feat-
ure. He was drawnand quartered,
keel -hauled, and generally rough,
handled by a half.: a dozen speakers,
while the other members Sat back and
shouted, "Give it to- hini 1" it

Temperance Hotels East
A.protninent Ontario man, a former

as follows wish a lot of the

would conee down here and investigate.
I ane at the Windsor hall here in

everywhere down, here, stayed at
the Carlton m St. John, the Queens in
Charlottetown, etc. It was amusing
to hear the disappointed men attack-
ing the tern erance cranks because
they could no get a drink anywhere
in Sununerside. There may be liquor

districts, but it is is very small quan-
tity. The no -license hotels are com-

A first -clue table, and all its apart-
ments are first • cla,ss. Here, where
they have had prohibition so long, the
demand creates the supply, and in
every town and silty there is good
hotel accommodation. Of course there
are not city hotels villagee but in
the prohibition pities, towns arid
villages, the hotels ane quite as good,
and I think much better and greatly
to be preferred, than thh hotels with
the bars in the liquor tOwns of On-
