FOU.NDRY DiseuTE.-There is a pros.
pect of trouble, and perhaps litigation,
between the • town. of Winghant and
the Western Foundry Co. It appeers
that in 1903 the company proposed to
extend the buildings and employ 100
hands On condition • that the amount
expended •up. to $6,000 should be de --
ducted from the original price ofatte,
foundry, purchased from the town.
The company went on and made the
improvements, though they did not
employ the 100 hands. Subsequently
the reduction the company was en-
titled to was fixed at $e,525, but tbis
was never closed. The agreement was
only verbal, and the present Council
seems disposed to enforce a settlement
at the original purchase price, Twen-
ty-five hands have been laid off st the
foundry,and more have receivednotice.

THE TOWN TEAM WON THE LOCKETS
On Wednesday of last week the final
games in the town hockey league were
played, and the result was, as had been
teipated..-that tbe town team were
the prize -winners,. The League se e
tile had been broken up so often by the
mild weather, tfiat those interested
finally decided to finish the series by a
toernament.. process, .playing the com-
plete series in one night. The result
of the arrangemene was that the teams
representing the Town and the Pas-
time Club were drawn against each
other, and the Organ Factory and Col-
legiate teams were the other contes-
tants. The date Was set for Wednes:,
day of lase week, but al the last mom-
ent tbe Factory team defaulted to the
School teem, and this left the latter to
play the winners of the Town and Olub
game, The first game was very fair,
but was somewhat one-sided, as the
serve of seven to one indicates; the
Club team putup it plucky fight to the
last, but the Town representatives
were too strong for them at all points.
The secone game, between the Town
and the Collegiate, was much better
and more evenly contested, encl the
school boys developed quite it surprise
for the spectators, for with only ten
minutes to Play, the scores/ma three to
one.in thelefitvor ; but the TOwn teem,
by tieir lucky lifts from cehtee ice, ea
MO score, and seemedto take the nerve
from their younger opponents, finally
winning by six to three, -
The loekets Were Worth playing for,
and the best team won the jewelry, as
Was expected when the teams were
first chosen, but they haven't very

Clinton boys were beaten in. Goderich
two weeks ago, yet they- feel certain
theycan reverse the score on their
ownice, and, judging from the, game
they played last ' week' against the
Town team, they will make good their
claim. The boys from the lake play it
good combination game, but the home
team are good skaters and stick hand -
lees, and the game will undoubtedly be
a good one to watch. 00o3e and cheer
the boys to victory. The game will be
called at 7.45 sharp, and there will be
skating afterwards for all 'who wish it.

A fast game of hockey was played in
the rink on Monday night,. when' the
Town team, winners of the town
league, and a team picked from the
other teams of the League, played fore
an oyster suppet. The game was it '
fairly good exhibition, and until the,,
last ten minutes the playing was as
even as the score- -of two all would in-
dicate, but the Town team then forged
ahead and scored four goals, and.vvote
out by pie to two. The boys say they
will enjoy the oysters just it much as
the game. The Town team was the
