ley! Treas. It was•decided to hold the
meetings this season on Friday evenings.
Mr. R. D. Bayley was chosen premier,
and ,R. Holmes •seleeted as leader of the
opposition, Mr. Bayley has formedbis

mier and Minister of the Interior; H,

England. The society would like to get
a number of hew anemiters,' and will salsa.
be pleased to have any one drop in to' see
them at any oftheir meetings. The sub—
ject for discussion this evening is "The
abolition of church exemptions."
Faon s as Non,TA,,wasr.—Mr. Thos. Bielby
of 'Hulled, whohas been in .the vicinity of
Moose -Jaw for the past summer, returned
hone ,last .Saturday. He likes the country
well, but says that at present times are very
hard there. A couple of weeks since, Mr. I
Whittingham, of .Qa'App1e, formerly of Olin:
ton, lost astaokeontaining .2.5 tons of hay, by
• a prairie fire. It was ,only—by -the-greatest
exertions that Thomas and John Gorrell; of
the sane district, •caved . their stacks of 40
•tons.;. thiiwill be a heavy loss. to Mr. Whit-
: tingbam, as the hay was requited for feed.
At : Crystal City the ,Gorrell boys , had sold
some of their wheat at 43 and 4'7 cts, per
bushel, the very .highest price attainable.
At Troy there is no •market • whatever for
wheat, at any . price, no buyerhaving yet.
made his apearance there, but one is expect -
.ed before the winter is over ; oats were sel-
ling at.40c„ and potatoes at 50. Consider
:able w.heat was frozen this year, even worse
,than last, owing to it being -sown very late,
and there are those who have sevoral bend -
red bushels of such wheat on. hand, that axe
really in need of life's necessaries.

tation went to St. Agnes . church

the ehureh people being desirous of , oh--
taining the best. The organs..were -the
Doherty, of Clinton, the Bell :antl-two. of
American make. After a thorough `and"
critical test, the palm was awarded the •
Doherty,, which . the Professor .said was
far superior to the others, especially that
of' Bell & Co. The successfuiiorgan was
.subsequently purchased for the use of the
church." The Doherty Organ now stands
without a pcer, surpassing all otters which
have heretofore been considered rivals,
and it must certainly be'pleasing to the
pebplc of Clinton to have. intheir 'midst
an establishment the , produet . of which
takes .precedence of everything in the
Name line manufactured in Canada. As a
further evident that the Doherty Organs
have obtained not only an etcellent res
pulation at home, but abroad as. well, it
;nay be mentioned that on Monday' last,
en order was received front . their .repre-
sentative in London, Eng., asking for • 86
instruments to be shippedat once. This
fact speaks for itself, and goes to show
that the merit in a good article is stare to
be appreciated.
