LOCAL oestestiolsce rionts, eatlitiKET ellArcei A match for thejunior championship of Western Ontario was pl-yed on the agri- cultural grounds, On Thursday last, be- tween the Young Canadians, of &Minnie and the Wanderers, of Clinton. The fact of it being for the championship, added much to its interest. The day presented a very unfavorable appearance and it WAS feared the long looked for match would have to be postponed, but before noon the sun, 8110ne With all it8 brillianey and eadened the down -cast looks of the bus. The attendance was very good, but not what the boys expected Wickets were pitched at 1 o'clock, the boys won the toss, and sent the visitors to the bat, but the bowling and Atop fielding of the Wanderers, proved too destructive in or- der to make a very large'score, ao they from. the field with a small score of •43 Clinton then went to the bat, the bowling and fielding proved equally good as will be seen by the score of 55.. The visiters then resumed the bat, and made the score of 48, time was then called and the match was decided on the first innings. It would be hardly necessary to allude to the individual playing of the team, but we cannot bestow too much praise on the club for the able mani ner n whiell they acquitted theinselyes. The batting and fielding was very good, although several errors were made. The Same May besaid of the visitineclub.
