An Apple Inspector,
Mr. Alexander Shaw,. of Walkerton..
after giving the subject ect
much
though
t
has arrived* at the conclusidn that
the one thing 'needed just now; to
make the shipping of frui't more sat=
isfaclory- and profitable, is the ape
pointniont of a local government
fruit inspector. In tlhe opinion of
Mr. Shaw, as things are now, the
inspecting is done at the wrong ,end
of the line. Instead of the inspect-
ing being done at the point of desti-
nation, it ought to he done. •at the
front end where • the fruit is loaded.
When the inspector reports froth- the
point of (Icstination that the fruit. Is
helpless, the shipper must pocket the
loss without any redress, What Mr.
Shaw proposes is that government
should appoint county inspectors, lend
that this official should inspect ail
fruit, at the point of shipment, and
the fruit should be sold f. o. b., and
paid for according to the inspector's
report.
