"Rabies is disappearing between Toronto and Hamilton, but it still exists lin the western part of On- tario," said Dr. A. J. Sixty-one persons, who had been bit- ten by animals, had been examined and been given the treatment. Few liked the course, but, as one patient said, they "would rather take the treatment than bark," Dr. Ainyot paid a great compliment to Professor J. J. Mackenzie of the University of Toronto, by saying that he had discovered the "ne$ri bodies" or the rabies germs, in 1895, or about ten years before they were pro elaimcd to the world as the cause of the disease by the Italian, Negri: Professor Mackenzie examined the brains of , about 40 dogs at that time and isolated the degenerate bodies which were afterwards con- nected with the disease Public Ownership in the West.
