Ontario sheep -breeders are eongrat-
ulatirl themselves that Mr. Bqw er s
bill to =cad the dog -tax and sheep -
protection act has become- law. It
passed the third reading g without op-
position, though a . stiff fight
had been put up against it in com-
mittee. The amount of tax to '13D paid
by the owner of one dog remains . 1 he
b 10 u eachad-
ditional
as before, $ 0, but for a-
f
ditional dog cwned, possessed or har-
bored by him, $2.00 yearly has to be
paid. The fee for bitches is increased
from $2.00 to $3.00, and if more than
one is kept, $5.00 must be paid for
each one additional. A spayed titch
is to be taxed at the same rate as a
dog, upon producinggoof in .ri tct
g
from a veterinary surgeon that it has
been spayed. But much more ,
in -
portant changes in • the existing
Act
were made by simply repealing siert tie
clauses. Formerly, upon the rietltion
of 25 ratepayers, any municipal coun-
cil might declare the law inoperative,;
and even where dog taxes were levied
it was permissible to apply, the money
received from this source to other
purposes than first paying s
heep-
oyn rs for losses by dogs.
Then
qualifying clauses of the old Act are
by the new one repealed, and all mun-
icipal councils are in future obliged
to collect dog taxes, and payment for_
sheep killed by dogs is to be a. first
charge on such funds.
In fair play to% sheep -owners, such
amendments should have been made
long ago,-learmers' Advocate..

THEY ACTUALLY CURE
RHEUMATISM
Gin Pins Prove It
It is one thing to claim to cure Rheu
teatism, It is quite another to do it.
Gin Pills bear out every claim we make
for they are nota "favorite prescription"
or a "marvellous discovery" or a 'won-
derful secret preparation."
They are simply a . common-sense,
scientific combination of medicines that
have proved their value in Rheumatism,.
Kidney and Bladder Troubles, and
Disorders of the Liver.
Ogden, N. S., July1st, 1909.
"I have been troubled with Rheuma-
tism so bad that I could not work. A
doctor tended me and.advised, me to go
to the hospital but all of no good until a
friend told me to try Gin Pills. 1 did so
and after using 'a few boxes, 'I am per-
fectly cured. I am recommending Gin
Pills." • . D. J. LAWLBR,
There is no' reason why. Mr. Lawler's
case should be any different from yours..
He took Gin Pills and cured himself of
Rheumatism. Why don't you • take
them and cure yourself ?.
We will let you test them 'free. A
sample of Gin Pills will be sent you, ab=
solutely'free, if you write the National
