W. H. SERB & SON CLINTON NEW ERA. CLINTON. ONT., JUNE 23, 1010. SANCTUM MUSINGS No small interest is being taken in the proposed reciprocity negotiation's between Canada and the United States. This Dominion will be repre- sented by Hon. Mr Fielding, Minister of Finance, and Hon. Mr. Patterson, Minister of Customs. In their capable hands we believe our interests will be arefully guarded and promoted as far as is possible. There is quite a decided feeling in the United States for the enlargement of trade relations•with this Dominion and to this Canada is not averse so long as fair play is evi- denced and the regulations adhered to. DESPITE all the talk, discussion and expenditure during the past year over armies and navies there is possibly a poorer showingof men at the military camps this week than has been the case for years. Various causes are assigned such as shortage of men ; un- willingness of business people to ab- sent themselves from their stores or. shops ; small pay, etc. The military spirit is not dead but in some cases it has been overworked and a temporary rest may be productive of good. NN "WHAT•Sthe matter with Clinton ? Will it be strictly truthful to quote. the often repeated answer to such an interrogation 'and say "it's all right !" or would it be wiser to thoughtfully consider the situation before giving our response ? A steady advance should be sought after and every act performed and every 'dollar, expended should be with the thought of prog ress and permanence. The out look is not discouraging so let us unitedly buckle into it and many lift while a few "Yo heave 1" Deafness Cannot Be Cured. by local applications, as , they canna. reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness' by and that is constitutional remedies n Deafness is caused by an inflamed con- dition of the. mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. Wheu this tube is inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing and when itis entirely closed, Deafness is the result, and unless the •inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be de- stroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces.
