Miss May Broadfoot accompanied her brother, James, to his home in E kins, West Virginia. Bishop Williams will conduct con- firmation services in St. Thomas' Church on Sunday evening. On Tuesday of last week James Scott, of the firm of Scott Bros., was married to Mrs Shortreed, of this town. Rev. F H Larkin performed the ceremony, which was witnessed only by the immediate friends and relatives of the couple. Mr and Mrs Scott left on the afternoon train for a ahort wedding trip to the Manitoulin Islands. On Tuesday evening last a banquet was given in Oscar Neil's parlors in honor of Messrs C N Henry, J A Roberts and Dr Fisher, who are soon to tecome benedicts, and W H Robin- son and J L Yule, who are leaving town. After a splendid supper, songs and speeches were indulged in, and- a very pleasant evening was brought to a close. The wedding of two popular young people of Seatorth was solemnized on Thursday, when J A Roberts was married to Miss Lyle Weir, youngest • daughter or Mr and. Mrs JasWeir. Following the action of the Ontario West Shore Railway in replacing the crossing of its line at Dunlop, torn up by the farmers of Colborne Township, the township council made applieation to the Ontario railway and municipal board to have the crossing removed, and Messrs A B Ingram, N. N, Kitt - son and H C Small, secretary, were at Goderich Saturday to deal with the matter. The board intimated that the crossing was in the right place, and advised that the dispute he settled in the meantime withholding a formal decision. The fellow did not know much about farming but he was a willing worker, seemed to like his job, and Mr. Yeo was just con- gralutating himself on having his burdens lightened, , when the young fellow threw up job, and said he thought he would go back to the city, as it was too lonesome for him in the country. This is unfortunately the matter with some of the immigrants coining out.
