week at the early age ol twenty years
and six months. The deceased follow.

up work. The degease made rapid
inroad and a few weeks ago he re-
turned. to Bayfield and to the home
of his sister, Mrs. Eddie Reid, He
hoped to see another Christmas hut

His mother died ten years ago but

Potter's hall on Friday evening last

evening:. Those quartettes, the first
of which consists of Messrs, Will.
Harland, L. Weir, B. J. ,Gibbings. and
R. A. Downs, and the second of Mrs.
Gibbings, Miss Gibbings, lVf r . W. Hat -
,and and B. J. Gikbings delighted the
addience' with their singing.
A • duet, "The Battle Eire," was al-
so sung with fine effect by Messrs.
Harland and Downs:
Little Donna Mulholland, • daughter
of Mr. John Mulholland of •Clinton,
sang very prettily, "Daddy's • Little
Tom -boy Girl."
•• The proceeds anniunted in all to
about $93, with Which the ladies are
very well satisfied,, though,. if it could
have been one on with as at first
advertised, the affair no doubt would
have been much more successful train

A number of Clinton people were
present and seemed to enjoy themsel-
ves.
The last shipment of cheese Was
made on Thursday last and on Wed-
nesday the secretary issued checks for
$1400, a tidy sum to be scattered
about for the Christmas season. The
total make of cheese for the season
was about four and a half tons
worth about $10,000.

We are glad to learn 'hat Mr. T.
Radcliffe is recovering from his at-
tack of bronchitis. Mr. A. C. Jack-
son has been. running the chopper tim-
ing his illness.
Mr. J. Taman unloaded a car of
coke for Munro and Asquith at the
evaporator last week.,
We were sorry to learn that Mt. A.
Riabinson had. to have an operation
performed on his leg in the Clinton
hospital last week. We hope that he
will return home quite well ere long.
Successful anniversary services were
held at the Baptist church, on Sunday
and Monday last. Rev. S. E. Gtigg
of Toronto preached afternoon and
evening to good congregations who
enjoyed greatly, the excellent sermons
and the music so efficiently readered
by the choir. On Monday t evening
Mr. Gig gave an address on. "God's
Canadian," which was full of inter-
esting and profitable matter and ell
aglow with patriotic and religious en-
thusiasm. Miss Eileen AooVer, of
Clinton contributed two solos on the
violin, ;Mrs. Hoover sang a solo and
both rendered a duet all of which
were much enjoyed. Miss- Verde, As-
quith gave a recitation, the choir
rendefed a selection and Mrs, How.
:son and Mrs. Schrimengeour a duet.
The collections reached a total •of
$147,
The pastor will preach a N. special
Temperance sermon at the Baptist
church on Sunday afternoon next.
A bee was held to raise the driving
shed at the Baptist church on Tues-
day.
