DEAR SIR, -The winter came upon us
on the 27th of November, the snow falling
to a depth of ten Inches,' and , on the morn-
ing of the 28th we had about :two feet,
and since that it has been"'snowing;eff and
on till it is about three feet, four:' inches on
the level. It is very hard for the settlers
to do their chopping, as when the tree
falls it buries -itself in the snow.. Tbe
people have to do their thrashing in the
winter, as the roads are impassable in the
fall, and if 'a settlerivan s a grist before
that he mast use the flail, whichis used a
great deal, there being only one thresh-
