THE FITNESS OETIII1Gs.-On Huron street in this town there.'' is a law- yer and a doctor's- office, undertaker's e3tablishment and tombstone manufactory, all within a few steps of each other. So that if a roan takes sick; wishes to make his will, procure his coffin, or order his headstone, all the essentials' thereto are close at hand. , It would hardly be fair to assume that this arrangement of business was done "with, malice aforethought." MEssirs. Parsons and Lee, auditors of the Great Western:Railway, were in town last lveek, closing rap all the town agen- cies connected with that road -one of the results of the, amalgamatien. Mr. White, of Mitchell, had taken a drove of 50 pigs to -the station for shipment, but as they werevery hot; he was told that he might cool them off by allowing them to bathe in the pond. They were accordingly turned loose and eagerly plunged into the water, where some of them began to indulge in all sorts ' of. antics. As soon as Mr. White found . the water was deep, he became alarmed, and when a jolly porker -would go under the water or turn up its feet: in the air, he would shout out " It's drowning, it's drowning—I'm losing all:My money,"' andseveral who witnessed the affair were con vuIsedwith langliter,, :knowi:ng-drat a pig rarely drowns. If anyone wants to make Mr. White angry, all they have to do isto ask him if he won't cool his hogs. xs amous Hat Store. OUR GREAT STOOK OF For the Fall is now complete.
