The friends of Rev. A. McLean, Blyth,
last week made hint a present of $125:
Mr. Coultis, of at Witwanosh, bas
sold his farm to M. Wm. McIndoo, of
Wingham.
Mr. John Culliton, of Bellmore, has
sold his hotel to Mr. Thos. Johnston, for
the sum of $3,000.
Mrs. Charles Girvin, jr., of the Nile,
has been very,ill fork, some time from ewes
ncrvous'prostration.
Seaforth Council have decided to &reduce
the hotel licenses from $150 to $125, and
ahpp licenses from $200 to $175.
Masers. T. D. Ryan'abd Henry Murphy
have purchased the Beattie flax mills, Sea -
forth, for the sum of $3,000.

The annual spring show of the West
Riding of Huron Agricultural Society will
be held on the Fair grounds, Goderith, on
Friday, April 14th.
Mr. John Brinclly of the 9th con., of
Colborne, died on Saturday last at the ad-
vanced age of 86 years. He had lived in
Colborne for over forty years, and.was one
of our oldest residents.

On Thureday morning of last week while
the richt:tiara of Belfast school were playing
in the ground7 a little box about twelve

and.broke his leg. about two inches above

Mr. Robert • McMichael has purchased
the farm of Mrs. Charles Carter, Hullett,
which adjoins his own. 'The farm contains
100 acres, and was pnrchased for $5,600.
There is ii:good brick house and other good
buildings. It is a splendid farm and sold
cheap. This farm gives Mr. McMichael
200 acres.
„ On Monday evening a severe accident
befell Mrs. -Vas. McMullen- Seaforth.
Some unruly lad threw a stont at thedoor
of their residence and on Mrs. McMullen
going out to see from whence it proceeded,
she slipped and fell on some ice, on the
door step, breaking one of her ribs.
A son .of Mr. 'Robert Willis, 'Seaforth,
encountered what might have been a seri-
ous accident. He was looking'for '66me
shoes on a shelf and stepped backwards,
not noticing that the door of the cellar
was open, falling on his back. Fortunately
he escaped without any serious injuries.

On Wednesday last, one Thomas Carter,
of the township of Morris, appeared on a
charge of shooting with intent to kill., He
had been quarreling with his wife on the
22nd of last.nionth and she took refnge in
the house of a neighbor, Benj. Ward.
Prisoner demanded admittance to Ward's
house, and when admitted, fired several
shots at him with a revolver. Being arrest-
ed,he was committed by Wm.Wilsen,J.P.,
of Blyth. On appearing before His Hon-
or,. Judge Toms; he elected, to be tried
by4jury and was accordingly remanded.
