day evening proved to he it great sue-

fare consisted of roast ehicken,turkey,.
goose and b;aixt,chotee salads, an abun-
dant siniply of. delielobe cake and tea.
From 6 unti1.8 o'aock the stewaeclets;
es were kept extremely busy in supply-
ing the wanas of the large company
were wholly taken by eurprise,as they
had not heard a word about the event,
until the crowd arrived at his house
and walked in. Referring to the pres-
entation he said it too was a surprise,
as he had never dreamed of being re-
warded in that way for what he had
(briefer the church. Be did not.con-
eider it work, but' pleasure, it in any
'way he could add to the comforts of
others, either in the church or out of
it, for he believed this to be the duty
of every matein relation to his fellows.
In concluding he spoke of the appro-
priateness of the gift, and how he
would treasure it in the tiine to •corne.
The ladies then opened their lunch
baskets and a •very enjoyable .evening
was spent. . •
FOWL ISUPPER-The anniversary of
tbe Methodist church held last Sunday
and •Moncley evening were, with one
exception; a genuine success. The
weather was ideal, the congregations
large, and the reflections were credit-
able. Rev. Mr. Stanley, of Maxwell,
preached two very able sermons, and
which thronged the tables. After all addressed the Sabbath School in the

from the vicinity of Clinton have, it is
said, succeeded in being very disorder
beat many .of the neighboring enter -
to -temente, and Loridesepoio was no ex.
ception. Although they were not quite
so had at Temdesboro as they are re-
ported to have.leenat otherplaces,
their conduct was not very ereditable
even here. They certainly have not
made many friends for themselves in
this vicinity, as the people here have
always tried to give an, ideal sunper
and entertainment, s and therefore
think it most ungentlemanly of thew
yeung Men to treat them so disrespect-
fully. It is hoped they will be more
considerate another year, if they
should be spared to wine again. • The
proceeds were a little over 5200.

on Monday afternoon. ;rhe scholars
were examined in the shorter catech-
ise' and Bible knowledge, by Mr. Jas.
Scott, Postmaster, Clinton, and Mr.
• B 11, Higgins, Seperintendent of the
Brucetleid Presbyterian Sabbath
School. The pupils aequitted them-
selves in thew usual crealtabletaanner.
Quite a number of ,visitors were pres-
ent. Mr Geo. Forrest,' of, Bruceileld,
whose failing sight and hearing pre-
vent him from taking an active, part

gave some good advice to the childree.
