den3itte of another respected citizen of
our neighborhood in ithe person of Mrs
Walgate Tebbutt who passed peace-
fully away last Saturday morning.
.Mrs Tebbutt (Catharine Ernest) at
four years of age came to Canada from
the United States in year 1837 with her
parents, Mr and Mr and Mrs Mantel
Ernest,who settled in Toronto Tp. In
year 1850 she was Married to the tate
Walgete Tebbutt, who predeceased
her 26 yearsmoving westward, to
Goderich Tp and settling on Maitland
Concession where she resided until
nine year's ago, when she moved to
Holmeaville and where she continued
to live till her death. labs Bloomfield
of Winghan3, is her cittly surviving
deter, all the other members of the
family having been called to the better
land, Mrs Tebbin t was the mother of
eleven children, all of whom survive

aid was promptly summoned but to no
purpose. For the. three weeks she
continued to sink until 5 . o'clock on
.Saturday morning laqt when she •
breathed the life out calmly' and

ent member of Meth ' ist church for

over fifty years apd lwaYs continued
to be heldheldin thtehighest esteem
by all who knew her. She w ill
be greatly tniesed in the coalman-
ity and more especially in the
t ome where she spent so many pleas-
anf years and where the received such
well merited care and respect. The '
heartfelt sympathy,. of the community.
is extended to the family in their sad
bereavement. Her remains whichlwere
interred in Clinton cemetery were
followed by a large number of friends.

day afternoon in the bush belonging to
Adam Stewart, 4th eon, When first
noticed it covered a veryentail area,
but owing to the high wind it spread
very rapidly and only the prompt res-
ponse of the farmers in the vicinity
saved the bush from complete devasta-
tion. There is still great danger for
the neighboring bushes. It is thought
to have originated by the carelessness
of boys shooting in the woods. This,
should be a warning for bort in the
future as any found trespassing in this
locality will be very severely dealt

excitement in which the valuable
fright was safely stored, a hearty

gift,stating how very pleased they
'were to recognize his work aroongst
theniovhich they highly appreciated

the home of the bride's parents Mr
and Mrs AWE Robinson, Hayfield, a
happy event took plane Monday even-
ing last, when their daughter Mabel,
became the life .partner of one. of
Clinton's popular young men, in the
person of Mr Harry Armstrong. The
event was a very quiet one, only the
• intimate friends of the contracting
parties being present. The New Era
joins .their many friends in extending
congratulations.

members of the Lathe's Aid Society of
Wesley Church are to be congratulat-
ed on the su mess ef the banquet and
entertainment given in the Town Hall
on the loth inst. The tebles were very
tastefully decorated ;the menu was ex-

tario, 25 targets being shot each day,
