SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR --The an-

Gluild of Willie Ohurch, v,;as• held:
Thursdayevening last. It was suc-
cessful, beyond all expectations, ex-
ceeding by some • $40 the receipts of
1907, which, were $160; The total re-
ceipts from all connections were a
trifle over 5200. It would hardly. seem
necessary for' us to add'that the ladies
of the Guild are verygreatful for the
excellent patronage they received.
NEARLY AN ACCIDENT* Tha
other day as a couple ofgentlemen
were driving out of town with a Spirit-
ed horse, it. got frightened at the ap-
proach' of an.auto, One of those in the
buggy jumped • out anJdcaught the
horse by the head, intending to turn
it around, but before he could do so, it
had reared on its hind legs, lifting the
man off his feet; and then fell over on
its side, Fortunately no damage was
done beyond a'eracked shaft and a few
bruiees sustained by the man.
